About Us

Our Focus: Faith-based earth care, providing resources, support, and education for congregations to help them make connections between faith and earth stewardship.

Our Mission: We are a coalition of individuals from Greater Kansas City faith communities. We partner with, encourage, and assist faith groups to preach, teach, model, and advocate for sustainable living and ecological justice for all creation. We work in keeping with the tenets of each faith group.

The Sustainable Sanctuary Coalition aids faith communities in the Kansas City metropolitan area to care for creation both on a collective and individual level.

Our Vision: We envision the earth, our home, as a place where all of creation flourishes. We take seriously our moral and spiritual responsibility to stop the current ecological decline and to help heal the earth in creative and sustainable ways. We believe the need is critical and that our response must be whole-hearted and passionate. We choose to focus on helping faith communities develop and go deeper in their ministry of earth care. As an interfaith group, we encourage collaboration to enhance our effectiveness. We work toward the day when stewardship and Earthkeeping will be embraced as the sacred responsibility of all.
